Elnarə Qasımova

Elnara Gasimova is a journalist at Abzas Media who has worked in the field since 2018.

Before joining Abzas Media in October 2023, she collaborated with Open Azərbaycan, Meydan TV, Voice of America, BBC Azerbaijani, and Mikroskop Media.

Throughout her career, she has faced police pressure, threats, inhuman treatment, and detention while carrying out her professional duties.

İn June 2025, she was sentenced to eight years in prison in the “Abzas Media case.”

Gasimova continued reporting even after her arrest, writing from detention about unlawful practices, bribery, and rights violations against women prisoners.

Local and international human rights organizations have recognized her as a political prisoner.
