Nargiz Absalamova is a journalist and reporter at Abzas Media.
Her work has focused on environmental issues, corruption, social rights violations, vulnerable communities, women, and young people facing discrimination.
She previously worked with Toplum TV, Mikroskop Media, and other independent media platforms before joining Abzas Media.
Absalamova’s reporting on environmental protests and social injustice reached a wide audience, but she has repeatedly faced pressure, detention, and police violence while carrying out her work.
In June 2025, she was sentenced to eight years in prison in the “Abzas Media case,” a prosecution she has rejected as connected to her journalism.
In 2025, she received the Free Media Award for her courageous reporting on corruption, environmental problems, social rights violations, and vulnerable groups.
