Mohyeddin Orujov's father, Shaheddin Orujov, a person with a 2nd-group disability from the Karabakh War, stated that a police officer, who was a witness, had declared in his statement to the investigation that no drugs were found on the activist during the initial search.

The trial of public activist Mohyeddin Orujov at the Baku Grave Crimes Court continues amid controversy.

During the session held on January 7, a dispute arose over contradictions in the police testimony. At this point, Judge Rasim Sadikhov decided to proceed with reviewing the case materials without questioning additional witnesses, which was met with protests."

Mohyeddin Orujov's mother, Təranə Orujova, says that at that moment, she saw that employees of the Penitentiary Service had squeezed her son into the glass cage designated for defendants.

"People in the hall were protesting. I also asked, 'Why are you doing this to my child?' The court staff grabbed my arm and dragged me to the door. Then I saw that they were taking everyone one by one and throwing them out of the stairwell. At that moment, a girl named Sara lost consciousness."

Speaking to "Abzas Media," Mohyeddin Orujov's father, Shaheddin Orujov, says that a witness, a police officer, had stated in his testimony to the investigation that no drugs were found on the activist during the initial search. According to him, the officer hid this part of his testimony in court and did not want to say it. The judges defended him and tried to help him escape the situation. It was after this that tension arose in the courtroom.

"My child is innocent. They slandered him. He has never been involved with drugs. We go to Karabakh, risking our lives, and when we come back home, we find that they have slandered our children and imprisoned them. Now, we must live with this grief.

They themselves admit in the indictment that this child has never used drugs and had no intent to sell them. You yourself say he doesn't sell them, doesn't use them, so how is it that he was carrying them? They wrote that no drugs were found during the initial search, and several hours later, during a second search, they were discovered. When we found him at the police station, we saw him walking freely in front of the guard section. If he had drugs on him, he would have thrown them somewhere immediately, so why was he keeping them on him?!

I am a soldier, and although it’s hard, I endure. I have been in the war. I was surrounded and made it out. I have been wounded three times. I am currently disabled. I am a person who can endure anything, but I cannot bear this injustice. I have been a fighter, my son was a commander in the military, and my father participated in the Great Patriotic War. You’ve caught the son of such a heroic family with a drug accusation. This is an inhumane act. I will fight; I will not bend before them. If I cannot protect my own family, how can I protect the Azerbaijani people as an officer?!"

Public activist Mohyeddin Orujov was first imprisoned in October 2023 on administrative charges for failing to obey police orders, receiving a 30-day sentence. Shortly after his release, he reported that he had been subjected to police brutality. On December 13 of the same year, he was detained again, and he was charged under Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (with manufacturing, producing, obtaining, possessing, transporting, sending, or selling narcotics, psychotropic substances, or their precursors in large quantities).

Mohyeddin Orujov and his family claim that his arrest is related to his political activity.
