Ahsan Nuruzade's wife passed away from cancer during his first imprisonment, and now his mother is seriously ill.
Ahsan Nuruzadeh, a member of the Muslim Union Movement (MUM), was released after serving seven years in prison but was detained again less than 20 days later.
The movement shared information about his situation, reporting that on October 26, while he was at the university to meet his daughter, he was violently arrested in front of her.
Ahsan Nuruzade's family also confirmed this incident to Meydan TV.
Four individuals in civilian clothing forcibly took him away, and his daughter witnessed the entire event. These children had already endured seven years without their father. Ahsan was unjustly imprisoned for those seven years, missing precious moments with his children. During this time, the children also lost their mother; she had been diagnosed with cancer and passed away shortly thereafter. The children were left relying on their ailing grandmother for hope. "No person with even the slightest conscience and morals should dare to make them suffer again," stated their relatives.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is avoiding questions regarding the recent re-detention of Ahsan Nuruzadeh, who was released just 20 days ago. The Ministry has not provided any information to the religious activist's family or responded to inquiries from Abzas Media.
While in prison, Ahsan Nuruzadeh lost his wife to cancer. He is now caring for two young children and an ailing mother.
The religious activist gained more recognition after the 2015 armed operation in Nardaran that resulted in the deaths of local residents and policemen. He defended the rights of Tale Bagirzade and others who were arrested during that time.
In 2017, Ahsan Nuruzade was initially arrested under administrative procedures. Soon after, he faced criminal charges, and a case was opened against him for illegal drug trafficking by the Main Organized Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. On March 6, 2018, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to seven years in prison.
A. Nuruzade denied the accusation, calling it bogus. He was released after serving his sentence.
